1.소개

IBM에서 개발한 전형적인 webservice이다. 3년이란 짧은 역사에도 타 데이터뱅크와는 달리 web환경에 맞춰 개발한 까닭에 검색사들이 인터넷 환경에서  사용하기엔 간편하고 풍부한 자료를 제공하고 있다. 이러한 환경을 만들기 위해 새로운 데이타구축을 작업을 했다기 보다 기존의 데이타를 사용자들을 위해 인터넷 상에 제공한다는 것을 미루어보아 인터넷 상의 유통서비스만 하고 있다는 시각이 많다. 이 데이타뱅크는 Dialog의 Onesearch기능처럼 복수데이타베이스상에서 동시에 검색을 할 수 있다는 것이 특징이다. 여기에는 비지니스 & 재무, 뉴스, 컴퓨터& 통신, 건강& 미생물학, 과학 & 엔지니어링, 환경, 법률& 정부, 여가, 여행, 산업분야를 포함한 여러 다양한 분야에 대한 정보를 75개 newswires, 300종의 newspapers, 819 종의 newsletters, 6882개 journals, 그리고 11백만개 회사에 대한 정보를 포함한다. 데이타의 기능도 Multimedia Data라는 점이 독특하다. 각 검색결과에는 Cryptolope Application을 이용하여 멀티미디어로 받아볼 수 있으며 각 결과마다 빈출도와 위치가 잘 나타나 있어 point rank가 높은 순으로 10개씩 결과가 출력된다.

이 서비스는 무료로 검색은 가능하나 자료를 받고자 할때는 유료로 가입해야 결과를 받아볼 수 있다.

InfoMarket의 검색법은 상기의 3가지 방법이 있으며 웹상에서 검색은 필요한 부분을 입력만 하면 됨으로 검색법이 간편하다.

제일 먼저 키워드를 입력하고 필요시 날짜 제한을 하거나 분류방법, 소스를 제한하는 등 SIMPLE/ADVANCED SEARCH에 따라 선택하여 사용하면 좀더 정교하고 정확한 결과를 찾을 수 있다. Advanced search에서는 논리연산자 and, or를 사용할 수 있으며 위치연산자 near사용이 5 단어내, 한 문장내, 한 단락내에서 가능하다.
